Buying Used books from Amazon?

Question by : Buying Used books from Amazon?
I want to buy a book from amazon, ive never done this before. How would I generally expect the book to arrive?

The book im trying to buy is very expensive new, but used it’s like $ 12. Its kind of a ‘special edition’. Should I buy it “Very Good” from an Amazon affiliated seller, or “Like New” for the same price, but its a new and unrated person selling it?

Is it possible to email a seller for more information? Im sure these people would answer my question; they have 0 ratings.
Yeah, but the question is: Which one do I buy it from?

I buy a lot of books from Amazon used and they can come in many different shipping methods and in many different conditions. Read the instructions to see if you can return it (you almost always can) and then go for it – heck, it’s only 12 bucks!

Buying used books on amazon?

Question by Fart Police: Buying used books on amazon?
Hi there are several books I need to buy and I thought I would try using amazon for the first time. They are pretty rare books, not available in bookstores and I have to be absolutely certain that they are the right edition. To my surprise I found the exact edition I need for both on sale in amazon, new directly through amazon itself and used through what appear to be various online sellers. My question is, if I buy the used ones, am I guaranteed that they will be that same edition?

Buying used books from Barnes and Noble?

Question by gingsmurf: Buying used books from Barnes and Noble?
I’m afraid to buy used books from the Barnes and noble website.
Has anyone? Is it legitimate? Has bad things ever happened to someone that bought a used book from there (like the book is destroyed or something)?

Best answer:

Answer by Desiderata
I have purchased used (as well as new) books from Barnes and Noble before and had no problems. In regards to the condition of the book, the seller is supposed to disclose this to any potential buyers within the information they provide. It is also the same with Amazon. The seller names a price and tells you what is wrong with the book, etc. You can also check the seller’s account and see if they provide return services. That way, if you receive the book, and believe they were untruthful about its condition, you can return it within a certain amount of days.

I think both Barnes and Noble and Amazon are trustworthy sites to buy from sellers of used books. So far, I have not had any problems.
