Ordering used books from Chapters/Indigo?

土曜日, 2月 4th, 2012

Question by Maria Josee Z: Ordering used books from Chapters/Indigo?
There are some books that aren’t printed anymore, so i have to order them used. I don’t want to order them online, and seeing as Chapters and Indigo are basically the only bookstores around, i want to get them from that store.
Usually when Chapters doesn’t have a book that i want in-store, i order it from the Computer in chapters, pay for it at the desk, and have it shipped to Chapters or Indigo. Is it possible to do this with used books ?

Thankks :)
M.J xoxo

The used books online are listed by independent dealers and not by the bookstore themselves. That means you can’t order used books into the store the same way you can order books that are in print. You should look in the phone book and see if there are any small used bookstores near you. There probably is and you just don’t know it they are usually pretty small and not super well known.

Buying Used books from Amazon?

金曜日, 1月 27th, 2012

Question by : Buying Used books from Amazon?
I want to buy a book from amazon, ive never done this before. How would I generally expect the book to arrive?

The book im trying to buy is very expensive new, but used it’s like $ 12. Its kind of a ‘special edition’. Should I buy it “Very Good” from an Amazon affiliated seller, or “Like New” for the same price, but its a new and unrated person selling it?

Is it possible to email a seller for more information? Im sure these people would answer my question; they have 0 ratings.
Yeah, but the question is: Which one do I buy it from?

Best answer:

Answer by The playground Los angeles
I buy a lot of books from Amazon used and they can come in many different shipping methods and in many different conditions. Read the instructions to see if you can return it (you almost always can) and then go for it – heck, it’s only 12 bucks!

WHERE GOOD IDEAS COME FROM by Steven Johnson

木曜日, 12月 29th, 2011

One of our most innovative, popular thinkers takes on-in exhilarating style-one of our key questions: Where do good ideas come from? With Where Good Ideas Come From, Steven Johnson pairs the insight of his bestselling Everything Bad Is Good for You and the dazzling erudition of The Ghost Map and The Invention of Air to address an urgent and universal question: What sparks the flash of brilliance? How does groundbreaking innovation happen? Answering in his infectious, culturally omnivorous style, using his fluency in fields from neurobiology to popular culture, Johnson provides the complete, exciting, and encouraging story of how we generate the ideas that push our careers, our lives, our society, and our culture forward. Beginning with Charles Darwin’s first encounter with the teeming ecosystem of the coral reef and drawing connections to the intellectual hyperproductivity of modern megacities and to the instant success of YouTube, Johnson shows us that the question we need to ask is, What kind of environment fosters the development of good ideas? His answers are never less than revelatory, convincing, and inspiring as Johnson identifies the seven key principles to the genesis of such ideas, and traces them across time and disciplines. Most exhilarating is Johnson’s conclusion that with today’s tools and environment, radical innovation is extraordinarily accessible to those who know how to cultivate it. Where Good Ideas Come From is essential reading for anyone who wants
