Grumpy and Daffy and Yoshi are proud to bring you a DIFFERENT kind of Golden Book Video Killers: a double-feature on two Golden Step-Ahead Videos (both on one tape!) “Get Ready to Read” and “Get Ready for Math!” This counts as episodes XIII and XIV in the series. Part 3 finally concludes “Get Ready to Read,” with a sexy singing seal, and then the show literally ends with a bang!
Carl Hiaasen explains the story of discovering the self-published book Eragon by Christopher (Chris) Paolini in an Albertson’s in Montana. Carl Hiaasen famously gave Eragon to his son to read on a family trip, and his son loved the book. So Carl Hiaasen suggested to his editor at Random House that she read Eragon by Chris Paolini (to that point, a self-published novel). Subsequently, Random House offered Chris Paolini a 500000 dollar advance for his trilogy, the first book of which was Eragon.

Lyrics With Thanks To FantasyKaiyo I’m William the Conqueror, my enemies stood no chance. They called me the first English king, although I come from France. 1066 the doomsday book I gave to history. So fat on death my body burst! But enough about me. To help remember all your kings I’ve come up with this song. A simple rhyme and ditty for you all to sing aloooong. Oooooo William. [Bit short init? We need more Kings. Who came next?] William 2nd cheeks were red. Killed out hunting so it said. I took over – Henry 1! – That’s my next eldest son! Then King Stephen it’s true, check it! I’m Henry 2, killed Thomas Beckett. Richard Lionheart, that’s right, always sparring for a fight! Oh King John, what a disaster! Rules restrained by Magna Carta! William, William, Henry, Stephen, Henry, Richard, John, Oi! Time for my mate King Henry 8 to take up this song! Henry 3 built the abbey – Edward hated Scots! A red hot poker killed Ed 2, that must have hurt him lots! Edward third was a chivalry nerd, began the hundred years war! Then Richard 2 was King aged 10. Then Henry, yes one more! King Henry 4 (…) not (…) from Henry 5, moi. I killed 10 (…) in Agincourt. Then Henry 6th arrived! Edward 4. Edward 5. Richard the Third he’s bad! Cause he fought wars with Henry Seventh, first Tudor and my dad! So Henry 8, I was great! 6 wives, 2 were beheaded. Edward the sixth came next but he died young and so I (dreaded?) Daughter Mary ruled so scary, then along came – Me! I’m Liz the First, I …
